The number of people living for more than a century has reached a record high.

14,830 deaths were registered in Scotland in the first quarter of 2009 - 242 fewer than in the same period of 2008.

Increase in Number of Households in Scotland (14 May 2009)
The number of households in Scotland is continuing to increase, the Registrar General announced today.

Scottish Population Continues to Rise (28 April 2009)
The estimated population of Scotland was 5,168,500 in mid-2008. This was a rise of 24,300 on the previous year.

More Divorces In 2008 Than Previously Thought (16 April 2009)
There were 11,538 divorces in Scotland in 2008, the Registrar General announced today - over 2,000 more than the provisional figure which was announced on 12 March.

Births Increase For The Sixth Consecutive Year (12 March 2009)
More than 60,000 births were registered in 2008 - the highest number in Scotland since 1995 - the Registrar General announced today.
